CONSTRUCTION of the WINGS

Preparation of the composite panels, specific to the design "Spratt 103".
Drying of the panels (fiberglass fabric + polyester resin + sun).
Cutting out with hot wire the extruded polystyrene ribs.
Gluing of the panels of leading edges on the stringers (and aluminium members).
Gluing of the leading edges panels on the ribs and aluminium spars.
Reinforcement of the (C box) leading edge (fiberglass fabric + polyester resin).
Covering of the wings (anti-UV film).
Test of resistance : + 4 G before distortion (remember that : + 1,5 G is normally the most that wings using the Spratt concept have to support before automatically off-loading the strain. So load tests to + 4 are largely sufficient ).

CONSTRUCTION of the FUSELAGE

TIG welding of the stainless steel tubes (standard quality and
dimensions).
This is a simple and fast fuselage to realize !
Test of centering the C.G. (remember that the Spratt 103 is a pendulaire type of wing in the pitch axes !).

ENGINE

First tests: used a belt reduction unit with the 20 hp Honda engine
(unfortunately lacking in power, and too many vibrations due to the reduction unit used).
Direct drive engine : 25 hp Kolher OHV.
Actual engine : 23 hp Briggs & Stratton with prototype propeller.
